Friedli Bioenergie GmbH

For over 12 years – true circular economy in Burgdorf

We utilize the residual wood from the neighbouring Roth Burgdorf AG glulam production and process it directly on-site into high-quality wood pellets in accordance with SN EN ISO 17225-2.

FAQ

How much grey energy is contained in our wood pellets?

The residual wood is a by-product of the glulam production process. By processing it directly on-site, transport distances are minimized.
Production requires only 110 kWel per tonne – with a calorific value of 4,800 kWh/tonne, this equals less than 2.5% grey energy.

Why is the origin of wood pellets so important?

Many suppliers import pellets from overseas to maximize profit – at the expense of sustainability.
Our pellets are 100% produced in Burgdorf and sold almost exclusively within a 20 km radius.
That’s what we call true regionality and genuine sustainability.

Why choose a pellet heating system?

Pellets are climate-friendly – when burned, they release only as much CO₂ as the tree absorbed while growing. Thanks to their low residual moisture, combustion is clean and efficient.Delivery is conveniently made by tanker truck directly to your storage silo.

Are pellet prices linked to oil and gas prices?

No. While all energy sources show seasonal fluctuations, pellet prices have proven far more stable over time:

- Wood pellets: approx. 8 Rp./kWh (fluctuation ~65%)
- Heating oil: approx. 8.8 Rp./kWh (fluctuation ~100%)
- Natural gas: approx. 11.3 Rp./kWh (fluctuation ~80%)

How does the energy content of pellets compare to heating oil?

One tonne of pellets contains about half the energy content of heating oil.
This means you need roughly twice as many pellets as heating oil, but at much more stable prices and with a significantly better climate footprint.
