But of course, aspects such as operational maintenance and availability also play an important role. In general, it can be said:
In general, the following applies:
Screw conveyors are particularly well-suited for homogeneous, free-flowing bulk materials and for short to medium conveying distances.
Chain conveyors are ideal for abrasive or coarse materials and for longer conveying routes.
Bucket elevators are preferred when larger vertical conveying heights need to be overcome in a confined space.

Shaftless screw conveyors are particularly advantageous in wet chip applications, as they are robust systems that are highly resistant to blockages:
Significantly reduced risk of blockages caused by stuck or clumped conveyors. Less susceptible to sub-freezing temperatures.
Lower maintenance costs, as there are fewer moving parts and therefore less wear due to mechanical friction or even acids.
Because of the low conveying speeds, there is no EX zone within the conveyors. The installation is therefore significantly safer with regard to fire and explosion risks, especially within buildings.
Our experience from various projects shows that shaftless screws can be used to operate with less maintenance.
Shaftless screw conveyors offer significant advantages for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX zones):Waveless screws offer decisive advantages for use in potentially explosive areas (ATEX zones):
Low conveyor speed and fewer moving parts ensure that there is virtually no risk of flying sparks.
Potential sources of ignition are minimized because rotating components in the conveyor area — such as bearings, bolts or comparable components — are completely omitted.
Due to the construction, there are no internal EX zones: Especially with vertical conveyor lines, this eliminates the need for complex monitoring or expensive pressure relief devices that would be required with classic conveyors in ATEX applications.
Thanks to these design advantages, shaftless screws offer maximum safety and efficiency in sensitive areas.
