What special attention must be paid to when integrating a pyrolysis plant

First and foremost, heat and power consumption must be ensured. Furthermore, the raw material specification must be precisely defined with the manufacturer of the pyrolysis plant - the challenge here is that this specification often has to be worked out together. Our experience over the years has shown that ‘wood chips’ are not just ‘wood chips’. Very specific requirements need to be properly planned and taken into account right from the initial concepts. Inadequate raw material preparation can make the difference between the success or failure of your project.

What challenges do I face with a biochar production plant?

In order to develop a successful concept for a plant, several important factors need to be taken into account:
1) Clean concept with mass balance: A well-founded mass balance is essential for the precise design of the plant. This should include all material and energy flows in order to minimise losses and maximise efficiency.

2) Compliance with emission limits: Compliance with the applicable environmental regulations is essential. This requires precise planning to ensure that legal limits are adhered to in every operating state.

3) Low-personnel plant operating concept: Efficient automation is crucial to ensure reliable and low-personnel operation. Modern control systems, combined with remote monitoring and diagnostic functions, can significantly reduce the need for on-site personnel.

4) Reliable process steps such as drying: Drying is a critical point in the process chain, as the quality of the material has a direct influence on the efficiency and service life of the system. It must be ensured that the moisture content of the raw material is always within the defined specification.

5) Material selection for abrasive material: Abrasive materials place high demands on the resistance of the materials used. It is advisable to use wear-resistant materials such as special steels or coatings in order to extend the service life of the system and minimise unplanned downtimes.
