LignoTherm Burgdorf GmbH – Circular economy in practice
As part of the succession planning, the former Friedli Bioenergie GmbH became LignoTherm Burgdorf GmbH. What remains is the close connection to Friedli AG, and with it a valuable exchange between plant operation, development and engineering.
In Burgdorf, residual wood from neighbouring Roth Burgdorf AG is processed into high-quality wood pellets, which are distributed through regional partners. The result is a closed regional value chain: from residual wood to pellet production to use as a renewable energy source. Production runs largely on electricity from the company's own photovoltaic system.
For Friedli, the plant is far more than a production site. Day-to-day operation delivers valuable hands-on experience that feeds directly into the further development of our plants. At the same time, LignoTherm benefits continuously from new technical solutions and innovations by Friedli AG. Regular improvements to controls, mechanics and processes have advanced the plant consistently over the years. Today it ranks among the most technologically advanced pellet production plants of its kind. The insights gained flow straight back into the design and construction of new plants.
The result is a genuine win-win: practice drives innovation, and innovation improves practice.
